February Group Class Programming Preview

FEB | MONTH II, PHASE I – IGNITE

Each month we like to provide a little insight into what our Group CrossFit and Group Legends programs are working on. Yes, we have a plan in place each month, and better than that, we have our full year planned out! This not only allows our coaches to prepare effectively to deliver our product on the floor, but it also allows us to provide our clients with the best possible results.

We are currently in the middle of our first strength focus of 2025 building strength in the front squat and deadlift. We have 3 more weeks of this focus and will test our 1 repetition strength on these lifts the 3rd week of February.

This finishes right before the 2025 CrossFit Open (2/27) so we can go into those 3 weeks with some new personal records and some confidence to crush whatever gets thrown at us! If you’ve never heard of the CrossFit Open, don’t worry we’ll talk more about how we do this at CrossFit MetroEast in the coming week. Just think a fun 3 week intramural fitness competition with all your gym buddies! Speaking of that, you may have noticed some skill work sessions during our classes in January. We will continue to see skill work and old CrossFit Open workouts to help us better prepare for common movements/ workout formats we might see.

The rest of the month is going to be business as usual except for one wrinkle…Diane/Diane+. This year we are going to be programming one CF Classic workout a month and we realize that some of those workouts athletes have done A LOT, or they are extremely quick workouts that might not challenge some of your more advanced athletes. That is why for a handful of these Classic Workouts we will see a “+” as a second option.

These should be treated as a secondary option to the day rather than looked at as Performance vs. Fitness or Lifestyle/Legends. These workouts can be an added challenge for athletes that have done a workout numerous times or are extremely proficient with the movements. For those that are still trying to do the original version as prescribed, that should be their focus…hit the stimulus at, or as close to, the prescribed standards. As always remember within all of our workouts there are adjustments that can be made to best tailor it to the athlete! February is going to ramp up, especially towards the end when our intramural competition starts so get excited and ready to rock!
